Its not just building; its building careers, business and a better futureIn partnership with the Borders Construction Forum and the Borders STEM Partnership, DYW Borders running a Built Environment Insight Day, with workshops, talks and practical taster sessions . There will be the opportunity to hear about careers and pathways into the sector, the journey to Net Zero ,learn about the increased use of VR, drone or heat sensing technologies, sample traditional and sustainable building skills, and attend workshops on community engagement, design, architecture and civil engineering. There will be talks and interactive workshops to encourage and support young people (16- 24) who want to explore careers in the sector, with groups of S5 & S6 pupils attending from local schools. There are workshops aimed at employers and professionals looking at developments in the sector, including sustainable construction, the use of digital, apprenticeships, regional case studies, the future workforce and opportunities for training. It is all taking place 10am-2.30pm on Wednesday 30th November at the Borders College campus, Galashiels. The event is being held in collaboration with South of Scotland Enterprise, Borders College, CiTB, Heriot Watt University, DWP, and Skills Development Scotland.
