Savannah from Galashiels Academy had applied to do horse care at BCSA 2022-23 but following her work experience with Thomas Sherriff & Co Ltd in Stow she wanted to change to Automotive. 🚜
There was huge praise from the employer who was delighted with Savannah’s positive attitude, engagement, and skills during the work experience.
Savannah has quoted . “After my work placement I decided to change my Borders College course to Automotive because I now know that is definitely my future pathway. Everybody at my placement was very helpful and made the whole thing fun for me. I was given really good feedback by my employer which made me very proud.“ 🙌
S3 Hawick High School Design and Manufacturing pupils took part in the My World of Work Live 'Drones in Construction' session. Pupils learned what drones are, what they do and how they are used in the construction sector. Pupils were shown how to safely fly a drone and use it to collect high quality images of structures so they can be inspected. 🕊🛸
The young people learned more about the construction industry in Scotland and the wide variety of careers available.
S2’s from Berwickshire High School took part in a wide variety of activities that all focused on promoting good mental, physical, and emotional health.
All the workshops were delivered by partners including Scottish Borders Council Catering Department, Live Borders, Police Scotland, Unity Fitness Berwick, DYW Borders and Quarriers. By the end of each session pupils had demonstrated a understanding of one or more of the seven BHS employability skills.
