-Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) Borders is delighted to announce the appointment of its new Chair and Vice Chair, marking a significant milestone in the programme's ongoing mission to bridge the gap between education and the world of work for young people across the Scottish Borders. DYW Borders also takes this opportunity to extend thanks to its outgoing Chair and Vice Chair for their unwavering dedication and commitment to the programme over the preceding years. The newly appointed leaders, who will guide DYW Borders into the next phase of its important work, are as follows: New Chair: Gavin Yuill New Vice Chair: Lee-Anne Gillie - Gavin said: “On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Alan and Sarah for their outstanding work over the last few years, giving DYW Borders governance and guidance. The world of work as we know it continues to evolve and an organisation like DYW Borders has to evolve to remain relevant and able to deliver outcomes for those it aims to support.”
Both Gavin and Lee-Anne bring a wealth of expertise and experience to their roles, and they are committed to advancing DYW Borders' mission of empowering young people, parents, carers, employers, and those in education to help foster a stronger, more connected community in the Scottish Borders region. Gavin continued: “With Lee-Anne and the other Board members, we will continue to build on what has been achieved and, with the Programme team, will deliver even more, supporting young people, parents, those in Education, and businesses.” As a local implementation of the national Developing the Young Workforce programme, DYW Borders has been at the forefront of plans and activity to create meaningful opportunities and connections between young people and the world of work. The programme aims to equip young individuals with the skills, knowledge, and experiences necessary to thrive in the modern workplace by facilitating partnerships between educational institutions and local businesses. |
