Employer led, the Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Programme is a combination of off-the-job training at Edinburgh college of further education, and on-the-job training across a variety of engineering functional disciplines including CAD and CNC.
Working towards both practical and academic targets, this competency based programme takes up to four years to complete, building on your technical skills, knowledge and transferable skills.
You'll be joining our team of highly skilled and dedicated employees working across the business.
As an Engineering Technician Apprentice you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge of Computer aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacture in line with customer specification and quality standards.

As an apprentice you will also attend Edinburgh College at Harding Green, Dalkeith on a day release basis to complete a SQA NC, HNC/HND with the possibility of progressing onto a degree depending on pass grades.
What will I learn?
You will learn about the various manufacturing processes in Forbes Technology focusing on Computer Aided Design and Manufacture to help produce our products for use in worldwide organisations. You will learn Design techniques, Manufacturing methods, Inspection processes and Lean processes. You will understand the importance of team work and learn from those who are around you, key areas which you will learn during your apprenticeship are:
What qualification or qualities are required?
You will require five SQA National 5 (A – B grades) including Maths, English and a Science subject (or equivalent) An advantage would be to have two Highers (grade A-C) in Maths and a Science subject or equivalent. Applicants already having an appropriate NC @ SCQF 6 or HNC in engineering will also be considered.
You should be honest, reliable, hardworking individual who is up for a challenge and enjoys working with others and gaining success. In addition you must be able to demonstrate a keen interest for engineering in both design and manufacture.
