Edinburgh College is recruiting a Curriculum Portfolio Manager – Data-Driven Innovation (DDI) Skills Gateway. The role will work with colleagues across the Colleges in the city region (Borders, Fife, Edinburgh, West Lothian). The role will report to the College City Region Deal Skills Group with day to day line management from the Head of Curriculum Planning and Performance.

This is a unique opportunity to manage the delivery of an innovative project, which aims to contribute to a strategic approach to increasing the data skills of the population of the Edinburgh and South East Scotland city region, helping the Colleges strengthen their regional economic role and oversee a multi-agency delivery project.
The role of the Curriculum Manager – Data-Driven Innovation Skills Gateway will be to establish processes and develop and deliver this ambitious and ground-breaking skills project, nurturing the Data Workers and Citizens of the future. You will be working with colleagues across the Colleges in the city region (Borders, Fife Edinburgh, West Lothian) to monitor output and ensure that financial resources are appropriately deployed.
The Prime Minister and First Minister announced the Edinburgh and South-East Scotland City Region Deal on 7th August 2018. Few other City Region Deals in the UK have involved such a prominent role for a College. Innovation and Skills are key components of the deal. The Data-Driven Innovation Skills Gateway reflects an inclusive growth ambition, seeking to make the region the leader for developing data literacy skills across its population. Working in partnership with the city region Local Authorities, Colleges, other HE institutions, The Data Lab and third sector organisations.


What is data-driven innovation?

The inclusion of Data-Driven Innovation with the City Region Deal reflects the growing importance of data in economic growth, social change, and public services. Through high-speed data analytics, our ability to capture flows of data and understand what they tell us is bringing better and faster capability to identify trends and behaviour across many sectors leading to improved services for consumers and citizens.


What you can offer us:
  • Educated to degree or equivalent plus extensive experience;
  • Experience of curriculum design and delivery of wide-reaching project plans;
  • Experience of working collaboratively to deliver projects, ensuring cross-partner buy-in and ongoing engagement;
  • Experience in financial reporting and budget management of spend with support of College departments
  • Excellent communicator, using a range of communication channels and materials.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills and ability to engage with people at all levels within multiple organisations;
  • Project Management skills and / or business development experience


Please note that the successful candidate may be required to work at any Edinburgh College campus.
